Rolls Royce Corniche up for auction!

There’s something about a Rolls Royce isn’t there? They are luxurious and built to last. Well we at Want Driving Lessons like to think that we have our finger on the pulse when it comes to top car news: Well car fans should get ready for the auction of the century! It’s been revealed that the very first Corniche ever made is about to go to auction.

Chassis number 001 was built way back in 2000. Not only is it the first model of it’s kind ever made, but it was also the first example of the very last model to be made in Crewe, at the firm’s former facility that was under independent ownership. This model uses the classic and much-loved 6.75-litre V8 that can trace its roots back to the classic Chrysler engine from the 1950s. This is a legacy that has been kept alive today by the swish Bentley Mulsanne.

Well if you have the funds, or even want to have a look at the motoring gem, mark May the 24th in your diary! The auction is happening at Silverstone Auctions’ facility at The Wing (part of the newly redeveloped Silverstone complex.) Corniche #001 is in amazing condition as it has been meticulously well maintained…Well it has been under the ownership of Rolls Royce itself. So you can expect the car to look and feel practically brand new! It’s been reported that the firm used it sparingly for developmental testing and promotional marketing so it has to look good!

Taking a look at the history of the car, one will find the first five stamps in the service book have been completed by Rolls Royce themselves at Crewe. But whats more, the current mileage of the car is just 24,926. Anyone with the highest bid on this auction will receive the car along with it’s substantial history file of service invoices and official sales brochure that from Rolls Royce featuring the car itself- it’s a celebrity in it’s own right!

The car was bought by its current owner in 2001, just a year after it was manufactured. The reason that they are wishing to sell it on is unknown, however it is now ready to be sold on to a new home. Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions in charge of the event said: “It’s a delight that we are able to offer such a historically significant motor car for auction. Rolls-Royce is truly one of the world’s most admired car marques and it’s fantastic to be able to play a part in the history of a very significant example.”

A fantasy car if ever there was one! Just take a look at all the trimmings this very chic car has to offer. Every part of it is preened and primed to perfection. A must have for any serious classic car collector out there- we are expecting some very serious buyers to be in attendance. Interested in the car?
